STORMSKERRY MAJA
Jewellery

A symbol for those who live off and by the sea

In the archipelago, in the sea, our jewellery finds its shape. It is also where Anni Blomqvist's tales of Stormskerry Maja unfold. Maja has become the backbone of Åland culture and a symbol of the archipelago's strong women. Those who saw the light on the horizon even when it was darkest. Those who lived on the terms of the sea.

The jewellery collection STORMSKERRY MAJA is a tribute to all those who today protect the sea. The John Nurminen Foundation's project with the replanting of eelgrass lies close to our hearts. The eelgrass forms dense sea meadows teeming with life. The eelgrass purifies the water, combats erosion and provides snails, crustaceans, and fish with food and shelter.

Furthermore, the meandering, undulating movements of the eelgrass have also given life to our STORMSKERRY MAJA jewellery.

Each Guldviva-jewellery piece is handcrafted in our own workshop. We use only recycled metal, either 925 sterling silver or 18k gold.

STORMSKERRY MAJA

- now also as a movie!

GULDVIVA is a proud partner of the new film adaptation of STORMSKERRY MAJA.

"The movie was a powerful experience, the rollercoaster of life was portrayed so strongly that I couldn't help but reflect that whenever, however and wherever we live, the same feelings exist within us. Now, as then, and in the future. Go and see it!"
- Maria Karlström, GULDVIVA founder and head goldsmith

"A true archipelagan seeks to protect all that is dear."

The quote above from the series 'Stormskerry Maja' encapsulates well what we feel for the sea and the work to protect it.

Guldviva supports the Åland Cultural Foundation through the jewelry collection STORMSKERRY MAJA, and the John Nurminen Foundation's work to restore eelgrass beds in the Baltic Sea.

MARIA'S STORY

"The winding shapes of eelgrass were the inspiration I needed."
